Real Talk

Taste of Panama Food Tour

One Name = Gonzo | Two Words = Hell Yes!

I feel as though I have really lucked out with the tour guides I have had on the tours I have chosen to take here in Panama. This tour focused on the various tastes of Panama…Chocolate made by the hands of a Ngabe tribe in Bocas del Toro & Geisha Coffee (yup more Geisha Coffee).

Next stop we headed over to La Rana Dorada (my favourite craft beer place yet) and I enjoyed a Porter that was a step above…totally worth drinking it in the summer weather.

Then we took a stroll along Cinta Costera over to the Fish Market where we enjoyed 3 kinds of Ceviche. WOWZERS! That stuff was gooooood.

Finally, wrapping the night up with a 7 year Abuelo rum on the roof top of Tántalo in Casco Viejo. Lucky for me, it is only 2 blocks away from my apartment.

Now…let’s talk about the tour company and Gonzo the rock star guide.

I actually booked the Taste of Panama Walking Tour on Viator but the tour is offered by a company called Barefoot Panama Tours.

The guide’s name was Gonzo and he was so personable adding a flare of personal conversation blended with history. Sharing a bit of his life growing up in Panama, which was really cool to blend his life experience with moments in history.

If you are looking for a food tour, take this one with Gonzo as your guide.

It was great conversation all night, he is for sure in his calling as his personality is a perfect fit to be a local tour guide.

I bet he could still carry the conversation even if they group were as dull as nails.

Which it wasn’t…but just saying, he is a solid friendly guy.
