Novi Sad

Cultural Mecca

A Historical Treasure of Europe

Novi Sad is a home of EXIT, one of the best music festivals in Europe that brings together the best musicians from around the world. It happened in July while I was in Belgrade. While many people love this kind of thing, it is a little outside my ideal so I chose to visit Novi Sad after EXIT had…exited. buwahaha.

Novi Sad is located in a vast plain, spacious and open to all directions. Fortress of Petrovaradin, a historical site, is on the right bank of the River Danube. The city is also a green oasis of city parks with a labyrinth of streets and alleys. It is the second largest city in Republic of Serbia with the population between 300,000 and 400,000 citizens.

Novi Sad, known also as “the Serbian Athens” due to its remarkable culture and history. You can enjoy some of the city’s most famous kafanas (traditional Serbian taverns) and relax or indulge in the great Vojvodinian cuisine and tremendous tamburitza music.

Not far from the city is Fruška Gora mountain with 17 Christian Orthodox monasteries and oldest of them dates from the XV century.

Plan to spend several days in this area. I was told to stay a while and I didn’t listen, I regret that decision.

What’s the point in experiencing what every one else experiences. So give me the unknown, the mysterious, the grit, the soul, the real life. I want that!!! I want all of that and nothing of anything else.
