Another Gastronomic Adventure

Getting to know Belgrade through food

It’s the perfect start to any new location. Let’s face it, you have to eat so you should know what the best choices are and what better way to discover the hidden gems is with a local taking you there!!

Today was a perfectly crafted walking tour discovering local foods, both savoury and sweet. We started with Burek and drinking yogurt, savoury, followed by something sweet, a Knedle which is a potato dough donut stuffed with yummy goodness deep fried and rolled in more yummy goodness.

Then we ate Ćevapi and another Serbian sausage that was served with bread and onions, cheese, salad and some spicy homemade pepper sauce (I am not sure if it was Ajvar though) that was superb.

Then we went to the BEST pizza place in town. The pizza base is always the same…so basically they have 1 kind of pizza but what is unique and the reason why there is always a line up at the window. Yes the window, they have been serving this pizza from a window in the wall since 1997. The toppings! They have a massive selection of homemade sauces that you can smother on your pizza. I had a spicy cheese sauce on mine.

Then we were supposed to eat another sandwich but we were all way too full so we skipped the sandwich shop and went straight for the second dessert and ate a Serbian pancake. Which was essentially a stuffed crepe. I chose nutella, cookie crumble and raspberries and boy did I chose right!

All in all….a GREAT day. I didn’t eat again for the rest of the day.
