A Four Seasons Playground

I can’t decide which town is cuter, Peachland or Summerland, both are the idyllic small lake side town.  As with most areas of the Okanagan you get seemingly endless summers, followed by a vibrant autumn with the surrounding orchards and vineyards in full display. From nearly anywhere in Summerland you are presented with these expansive views to the lake below and the mountains above as a backdrop.

There are so many things to do in this area and it is definitely worth while to visit or stay a few days.

Adventures 101 in Summerland

You can experience the romance of a bygone era with an afternoon of adventure on the Kettle Valley Steam Railway; it showcases a part of Okanagan and British Columbia history in magical way, and you’ll be able to tell your friends you experience a great train robbery like I did. This is the only remaining operating section of the KVR.

You can also walk on the historic Trout Creek trestle. The 73-metre (240 feet) high and 76-metre (249 feet) wooden bridge was once the highest on the Kettle Valley Railway. 

Do you need something a little more fast paced? 
Be sure to bring your mountain bike so you can hit the kilometers of trails with amazing views. Hike to the summit of Giant’s Head, a 850m extinct volcano and take in the wide reaching views of Summerland, Okanagan Lake and far beyond.

Do you need to relax with some food?
Pick a campsite and stay the night or just indulge in one of the many restaurants, like Shaughnessy’s Cove where I enjoyed a breakfast that was SO on point I told all my friends.
