You can ask anyone who knows me…I am an organized mo-fo. I have backup plans galore, my outlook calendar is jam packed with colour coded tasks, and the way to my heart is to ask me to make you a spreadsheet. Literally!

One time, my manager asked me to make a spreadsheet and before he explained the nature of the spreadsheet I interrupted him and said “You had me at spreadsheet, of course I am in!”

They are magical and when you update one cell and all the others cells on all the tabs update based on the new data I feel like I am a Musical Maestro.

DIGITAL Nomads

What about travel safety?

Having said that, planning for adventures is under control but what about travel safety for a digital nomad? Obviously personal safety is a big deal, but equal to personal safety is the safety of your work related devices.  For a digital nomad that needs to work while travelling…your tech safety is a big deal. At the very bare minimum you have your laptop security to worry about, but more likely you have several items that need to be safe and sound when they aren’t attached at your hip.

I am going to showcase some of the gear that I have found to be ‘must have’ items for my digital nomad travels.

Devices for DIGITAL Nomads

Reliable Wi-Fi is a must

Skyroam is a highly rated mobile wi-fi device that allows you to connect to the internet anywhere there is cell phone reception. For a small investment you can purchase the device (which is orange, one of my favourite colours).  After investing in the device, you can purchase plans based on your needs: unlimited monthly data, unlimited day passes or pay per GB.

Since I plan on staying in AirBnBs that have free Wifi the Skyroam device is just my backup plan.  Many of my clients have asked me ‘but what if the internet is bad’…well, I have a plan A (A for AirBnB) and a plan B (B for backup Skyroam) and a plan C (C for Cell phone data LOL).

I needed a carry on bag big enough for my 17.3″ laptop, but I didn’t want the bag to ‘look’ like a laptop bag. This one is perfect. It can carry all my devices, a change of clothes and any essentials I need for the first few days.
