Do you think…

The Past, Present and Future can be guided by different interpretations?

A myth, a legend, a sign…they all serve their purpose and act as a compass for each person who hears them. They are all meant to hold profound significance and create these light-bulb moments in all of us. (If they are told well of course)

So what’s the difference?

Myths are just stories, tales that are meant to teach a lesson, explain a phenomenon or explain the world and people’s experiences. We have learned them our whole lives and it started when our parents read us our first fairytale. Was an earthquake really caused by an angry god who shook the earth?

Legends are stories that people made up as well. BUT, legends are about real-life people and what they did. Legends always have an important purpose, but the facts are always a little exaggerated to make them more interesting! They are often told as a matter of history. I think every dad’s favourite legend to tell their kids – “I had to get up at 4am to feed the cows before I had to walk 6 miles to get to school barefoot in the snow! Stop being so lazy kid!!”

Signs are meant to be delivered from the universe to guide you. Signs are a way to relieve some of the pressure we have put on ourselves every single day. Why else would a person ever ask a Magic 8 Ball to make a decision for them?

The Way I See It

I can understand why myths were created, people wanted to make sense of mystifying acts of nature they couldn’t understand. People wanted to understand things that happened. In sports terminology, a sort of defense…a reaction to something that happened. Legends and Signs are forward thinking, offense if you will. They are meant to guide you towards the ultimate path. Regardless of if it’s your dad telling you or the universe telling you. My point is open your eyes, take heed to the myths and legends and read the damn signs.

Fun Fact

Myths, Legends & Signs I have encountered on my journey

Myth or Meaning?

Blue Morpho Butterfly

A blue butterfly is rarely sighted and symbolizes the passing of time, change, and meaningful purpose in life. Seeing this butterfly is always a major symbol of transition and the butterfly omen isn’t something you should ignore. Jenny , the tour guide said that the local meaning is that if a person is able to see a Blue Morpho then it means that they are True of Heart. Lucky me!!!

Seeing Signs

Angel Numbers

One of the first and easiest ways to know when the universe gives you signs is to notice angel numbers: 111, 222, 333…a series of numbers together. The more numbers in the string means that it’s a stronger message. The angels want you to pay attention to your thoughts and beliefs because they are quickly manifesting into reality. Nearly daily this happens to me, typically with 3 numbers so I must be on my true path. (fingers crossed!)

Seeing Signs

To Serbia I Go

Arriving in Panama, requires an exit flight and mine had me going to Serbia next. In my early days in Panama I took a tour by a guy named Goran (fantastic guy) and as fate would have it, he is Serbian. I take that as a sign that to Serbia I must go. And so, in less than two weeks, in Serbia I shall be.

Legends of Stone

The Horse Poses

If the statue shows the horse posed with both front hooves up in the air, the rider died in battle.

If the horse is posed with one front leg up, it means the rider was wounded in battle or died of battle wounds. Both feet down means he died of natural causes.

It’s in the Name

The Streets of Cartagena

Cartagena de Indias is full of gorgeous streets with eyebrow raising names. These streets are so recognized and some easy to remember that nothing is needed to locate them.

The names of these streets go back to the time and hide stories behind them. Centuries of tradition blend the imaginary and the identity of Cartagena. Google: “Calle del Santísimo” or “Calle de Tripita y Media”.
