¿Qué? ¿No hay agua en el apartamento?

How a burst city water pipe brought me to Chocolat

Oh my…it was literally the day before I was moving to my new apartment in Cartagena. It was a normal Friday morning and around 10am all of the sudden there was no water. None at all. So I messaged my incredibly helpful and friendly airBnB host to ask what might be happening with the water.

A few minutes later she sends me this video of the water pipe that burst down the street and lets me know the entire neighbourhood was without water.

So, I kept working not too worried about the situation hoping that it would be fixed before dinner time. As my work day was coming to an end and there was still no water I was starting to get a little worried. I mean, seriously I had to pee something fierce. So, I wrapped up work and made my way to my favourite water hole to enjoy some sports on their big screen and their cerveza de la casa.

I messaged my host again a few hours later and there was still no water, so I went out for dinner. After I indulged in some delicious food I messaged again and she said that she had a little water but she wasn’t sure about my suite on the top floor. So I decided to venture home at around 9pm. When I arrived at home, there was no water in the suite still.

What to do? I mean Saturday was moving day anyway, but I can’t not have water, I need access to the toilet. These little things we are so accustomed to sure do become a major crutch and dependency.

Karisma Hotels & Resorts

Now hotels.com only gives this hotel a 4 Star rating, but I give it full stars.

It was literally a last minute reservation using the hotels.com app (my FAVOURITE way to book Hotels, there are so many perks but we can talk about that in another post) I booked the hotel, hopped in a cab and checked into the hotel.

WOWZERS! From the boutique feel with grandeur ambience this hotel makes a hell of a first impression.

Allure Chocolat’s location is perfect, between Getsemani and the old City. It was safe with plenty of things to do nearby…bars and restaurants galore. I was checking in super late so I wasn’t heading out to play but everything is very walkable. The hotel concierge was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was included and the pool area is very instagrammable (LOL). If I had to book another hotel in Cartagena, I don’t know if I would stay anywhere else!

King and queen quality comfort and service!

The truth is that I was so comfortable…even though I was moving to my new apartment on Saturday anyway, I decided to stay an extra night.  Yes, a little indulgent no doubt but I promise with all my heart #ItWasWorthIt.  Now I need to find out where else in the world Karisma Hotels and Resorts exist because I am all in!
