The cutest little mountain town there ever was

If Charming was a brand…

I am madly crushing on this little town. It is oozing with charm and if charm was a brand, then that is Nelson. It’s picturesque, it’s vibing, it’s artsy, it’s all things for a foody, it’s historic, it’s everything you would want from a weekend getaway.

I did a decent amount of shopping and beering around town. LOL Yup, beering is now an official word. 2 little shops that I spent way too much time in:

Cartolina

An entire world of carefully curated unique and vintage-inspired paper goods, gifts and accessories. I walked around this store 3 times and still found new things. It was love at first sight. Website

Nelson Olive Oil Co.

Taste testing galore…It was a conundrum to say the least. The amazing oils and vinegars! There were soooo many kinds and I couldn’t decide what to get so it got complicated. The complication being, I came home with too many options.  Website

Geewowza

I stumbled across this at the farmer’s market. She had hot Pho in the park on a cold and rainy day and I was sold! I taste tested all the goods and I legit would have bought EVERYTHING had I not been out walking all day and couldn’t carry it all. Unfortunately, she isn’t online yet, but ecommerce is coming soon.

Not being a fan of kimchi, I was reluctant to try it, but I tried her Golden Kimchi and the verdict is “Holy Crap” It was creamy and crunchy and tangy freshness. But the winner of the show for me was her homemade Tibetan Wowza sauce, this is now my go-to to put on everything. I put it on roasted veggies last night and this morning when I woke up, it was the first thing I thought about. So what does that tell you? Website

Streetcar Number 23

All Aboard

Take a ride back in time on the fully restored Streetcar Number 23, once part of the Nelson Street Railway that served the city from 1925 to 1949. Savour the views of the West Arm of Kootenay Lake as you meander along its shore to beautiful Lakeside Park.

Streetcar 23 operates between Lakeside Park and the foot of Hall Street (at the Prestige Lakeside Resort) with several passenger stops along the way – including the Transportation Museum/ Streetcar Barn, Soccer Fields, and the Mall. A round trip takes approx. 30 minutes.

Unfortunately, it finished operating for the season the weekend before I arrived.
