Who Doesn’t Love a Ghost Story?

I love them…in broad daylight

A fantastical creepy and mysterious alternative to a typical walking tour.

Cartagena is overflowing with unexplainable sightings, indecipherable phenomenon, legends and tales and superstitions that have been passed on for generations.

The world of delusions and elusions always makes for a good story.

Cartagena has a pretty dark and wicked history. Stories of human purification, beheadings, witches and ghosts.

The tour starts in Inquisicion Square (Bolivar Plaza) and it starts off with a story of how people keep hearing horse and carriages in the night but when they check the security cameras…there is nothing. As we stroll around the square he shares more stories about bumps in night that people hear but every time they investigate the noise violations they find nothing.

The tour is pretty cool because it references houses and places and even has pictures for reference at each of the stops on the walk. Once you complete one chapter you pause the audio and take a walk to the next chapter.

Ghosts of Downtown – Self Guided Walking Tour

My personal tip for this is to do it on a Sunday morning around 8am.

The streets are fairly quiet still and you won’t be too bothered by people bustling around the city.

There were 6 chapters in this walking tour and they range from 3 min – 6.5 min.  All in the audio time is about 30 minutes, but you need some additional time to walk from each location on the map.

I would say that this self-guided walking tour took me about an hour to complete.

Just in time to go grab some brunch and coffee!
