Calgary, Alberta

Cowtown, The Stampede City

An eclectic mix of arts, history and nature

Calgary is a city in the Canadian province of Alberta. It is the largest city in Alberta and the largest metro area within the three Prairie Provinces region. Calgary is situated at the confluence of the Bow River and the Elbow River.

One of Calgary’s economic activities includes film and television. In the 1 year that I lived there, downtown was constantly undergoing a facelift for the next hit TV show.

While Calgary has the sunniest days year-round of Canada’s 100 largest cities, with slightly over 332 days of sun, it also has unbearably cold winters…too cold for this Pacific coaster.

My favourite things about Calgary is that it is very walkable city, the library is an outstanding architectural marvel and while I don’t typically favour Zoos, the Calgary zoo is an excellent facility with a focus on rehabilitation and conservation research. It is Canada’s most visited zoo. It’s a facility doing good things.
