In the Baltic region of Europe – may be small, but its pristine Baltic sea coastline and traditions tend to surpass even more iconic destinations of Europe. Known for its amber, often called the “Baltic gold.”

The capital city, Riga, is famous for its well-preserved medieval architecture and is a UNESCO World Heritage site. The city is particularly known for its Art Nouveau buildings and the medieval Old Town.

Fun Fact: Latvia has a rich and complex history, with influences from various cultures, including German, Russian, and Scandinavian. It was part of the Soviet Union until it regained independence in 1991.
