Hungarian Cooking Class: CHECK!

ENTER FOOD THE COMA!

Some people could say that I am an enthusiast when it comes to cooking and culture, and Culture IS FOOD. So I do make it my mission to try my hardest to take a cooking class in every country I visit.

Japan, Colombia, Panama, Jamaica, Germany, Serbia, Albania and now Hungary….well, technically Hungary for a second time.

So when the opportunity arose for me to return to Hungary for a longer period of time, I jumped at the chance of revisiting the Chef Parade studio and retake this cooking class a decade later.

Experts in Hungarian Cooking

Chef Parade

This is literally THE BEST Hungarian food experience. The best because, not only do you learn authentic Hungarian recipes but then you get to eat it all too and have left overs to take home.

I took this cooking class for the second time around during the COVID era, as a result, this one a 1-on-1 class making me the special guest hahahaha.

Chefparade Cooking School is a contemporary cooking studio where you can master the basics of Hungarian cooking in a fun and interactive atmosphere. The hands-on course gives you the opportunity to cook and ask questions side-by-side with your chefs.

They also teach you all about the basic ingredients and spices like paprika along with the best cooking practices so that you’ll be able to treat your family and friends with a fantastic Hungarian dinner in you return home. I can honest say that I have recreated these recipes 3 times since I took this cooking class in January 2022.

As an added bonus you can visit the famous Great Market Hall and learn about the Market’s history while you stroll around and the chef shows you Hungarian ingredients, fruits/vegetables and spices.

My Cooking Class

In my cooking class we prepared a 3 course typical Hungarian menu: soup, main dish and dessert.

  • My soup of choice was Meggyleves – Cold sour cherry soup. It sounds so foreign but holy man alive it was delicious.
  • My Main Dish of choice was Gombapaprikás nokedlivel – Mushroom paprikash with dumplings.
  • My Dessert of choice was Szilvás gombóc – Plum filled potato dumplings.
